Musing: Lying

I believe the common take on the act of lying is not a positive one.

So, it's a bad, villainous, evil thing to do, lying to someone.

I also believe, that lying to oneself is the worst kind. When you lie to yourself, you aren't only deceiving yourself, you're lying to every single person you know.

Now, don't feel like you're a horrible person. I do it, your friend does it, my friends do it, my parents do it; to be honest, everyone does it.

But why? Why do we do it? That's a question you have to answer yourself.
