In every new class you attend without friends, you sometimes meet new people and become acquaintances. You know those people, the ones who-you-really-don't-know-but-kind-of-do. The ones who you label as "friends" when it's convenient as a popularity booster. The ones whose names you forget through the quarters and only remember when they awkwardly reintroduce themselves to you while you both are waiting in line for lecture. Then they get the notion that they're obligated to sit next to you. Then it ruins the entire lecture for you because you were supposed to meet up with a couple of friends and sit next to them.
And yes, it happened to me.
