2010, A New Year, Decade, Life

Ah yes, another new year. For me, new years were never as big a deal as others have made it. I never had resolutions and never truly celebrated them; in fact, I remember for the year 2006 (when I was in high school and I still had to scrawl the date on every single piece of academic-related binder paper), that it took me up until June '06 to recognize that it was indeed the year 2006 because of the month's same numerical assignment as the year. Quite sad, I must admit.

But... now that I'm pretty much of legal age, I feel like I should act a little more like an adult, you know, with all them gifts for other people and responsibilities and all that kind of adult-like stuff. Hahaha, funny how as I'm writing this, I have the familiar feeling of, "I'm never going to grow up." However, time and time again, I look back on those moments and realize that I have grown in some positive regard. And I guess those were the intangible resolutions I set up for myself unknowingly.

However, for this new year (and subsequent decade), although I do want to once again stumble upon those moments of subtle enlightenment, I'd like to do it in a more graceful, planned manner. And so, with that in mind, I've set up just one very achievable resolution: no excuses for the tasks at hand. If you're assigned to do it, no roundabouts, no complaints; just suck it up and do it, no matter the discomfort or dislike. In short, suck it up and deal. Simple.

That's my resolution, I'm proud to say, and that's what I'm sticking by. If you catch me slacking, keep me on track, haha. Thanks in advance!
