Musing: Almond-Scented Hand Soaps

After using the weights at the gym, I find it a must to sanitize my hands. At RIMAC, all the restrooms have the same soap: a mysterious pink almond-scented fluid. It seems this liquid soap is quite common, greeting you at the sink of almost every kind of restroom across the globe.

My curiosity towards this soap started when I first came across it in Hong Kong in an almost sterile restaurant restroom. I recall not being able to distinguish what the smell was supposed to emulate. Frustrated, I've always held a slight grudge against this soap until I realized it was ALMOND almost five years later. Damn, I felt like the smartest kid on earth at that moment. Oh, naivety. Anyway, I never consciously think about the source and history of how this almond-scented mystery soap got to be so popular. Is it even popular? No one seems to ever talk about it... I mean, I can imagine that something coming from the restroom wouldn't be a very good topic starter, but still, hasn't anyone ever thought about it?

I don't know if it's popular... could just be an industry standard? Though I'll admit the soap in the RIMAC restroom does smell particularly nice. :X

They had that everywhere back in Taiwan too, and I would always hold my breath when I wash my hands. I was never fond of the pink almond-scented hand soap, bleh, but it does bring back a sense of nostalgia.
