Lately, I've developed a terrible habit of overeating meat and feeling like poo-poo. I mean, I still get my vegetables in, but I tend to ALWAYS want more meat and overeat; I don't stop until my vestigial second stomach feels like it's about to asplode. It's primal, but unhealthy because I don't feel like eating meat for days at a time after the binges and end up starving myself. I considered going purely vegetarian, reaching my daily protein requirements by eating eggs, tofu, and intaking protein supplements, but then wouldn't that be another extreme? Why is balance such a difficult thing? MAYBE BECAUSE YOUR DIET ISN'T BALANCED. Wapow, revalation and resolutions.
1. EAT MORE VEGETABLES. Vegetables are always a good thing. Eating more to take up space in stomach so I won't be able to eat as much meat: even better.
2. EAT LESS FAT. I still haven't really tried filling my protein capacity with lean protein; it's all been about a 60/40 ratio between protein and fat. Maybe that's why I don't feel like eating meat for days on end afterwards?
3. EAT LESS MEAT. Because almost all meats come attached with a little fat, I want to limit how much I'm putting in my body. Keyword here: LIMIT. Which leads me to...
4. EAT MORE SEAFOOD. Almost all seafood = good source of lean protein. If it comes with fat, the fat is usually in the healthy saturated kind.
5. EAT MORE EGGS. I haven't had eggs in a while. At the beginning of the quarter, I used to eat three eggs for breakfast everyday until maybe about two weeks ago, I changed up my breakfast routine and ate oatmeal. I never went back to eggs for breakfast. Maybe that's why I've been meat-binging...
There we have it. If you group all these things together, it points toward a diet rich in vegetables, the protein cache filled by eggs/seafood, and very little to no fatty meats.
Pescatarianism, much?
